Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., conveyed in a new interview that he's concerned about President Donald Trump's desire to end the Senate filibuster rule.
Sanders spoke with HuffPost about a variety of issues, including several revolving around Trump.
"Donald Trump supports the ending of the filibuster. So you should be a little bit nervous if Donald Trump supports it," Sanders said over the weekend.
Sanders noted that good legislative practice means maintaining the rights of the minority party in the chamber so that both major parties can have a say in what's happening on the floor.
"I do think that every piece of legislation that I am fighting for can be passed with good legislative processes, including budget reconciliation," he said.
"The problem, though, that I believe, is whether you're in the majority or the minority, I think you have to protect minority rights. I don't think you can just simply shove everything through. There's an argument for that, by the way, but that's not where I am right now."
A year ago, Trump expressed frustration with the slow speed at which his judicial nominees were being approved and asked Republican Senate leaders to change the rules to make it easier for nominees to get through.
