Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., will deliver a response to President Donald Trump's campaign-kickoff speech Tuesday night as the 77-year-old continues to chase the presidency.
"Recent polling has shown Sen. Sanders solidifying his standing as the candidate in the strongest position to defeat Donald Trump in the general election," the Sanders campaign announced, according to The Hill and other outlets.
"Sanders has now led Trump in 25 out of 26 polls since March and data throughout these polls show Sanders with the strongest polling numbers against Trump in key demographics that could swing the national election."
Sanders' speech will be streamed live.
Trump plans to officially unveil his 2020 reelection campaign during an event in Orlando Tuesday evening. Supporters began lining up for spots early Monday morning.
A recent poll found that Trump trails five Democrats — Sanders; former Vice President Joe Biden; Sen. Kamala Harris, D-Calif.; Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass.; and South Bend, Indiana Mayor Pete Buttigieg — in the race for president. Trump reacted by saying there was "something weird" with the poll results.
Sanders has also delivered rebuttals to Trump's three State of the Union speeches.
