GOP presidential front-runner Ben Carson is the latest to be asked whether he'd go back in time and kill baby Hitler.
He would not, Carson said.
But there is a caveat: Carson wasn't asked, as Jeb Bush was recently, whether he would kill baby Hitler. Instead he was asked if he would abort the future Nazi dictator in the womb.
The question was asked by an SB Nation contributor writing under the name
PFT Commenter. The quote was included as part of a satirical screed against Carson's views on healthcare and statements on Hitler in the past, including telling CNN that Adolf Hitler's chances of taking over Germany would have been diminished had the people been allowed to own guns.
"As the most anti-Hitler, but also the most anti-abortion candidate, would you abort baby Hitler?" the writer asked Carson after the GOP debate in Milwaukee on Tuesday. Members of the press guffawed at the question.
"I'm not in favor of aborting anybody," Carson replied before turning away to speak to members of the press asking him serious questions.
"Not even Hitler? Pro-Hitler," the writer says.
Why the question to begin with?
It all started with a New York Times Magazine poll of readers asking if they would go back in time to kill baby Hitler if given the chance.
Then Carson's presidential rival
Jeb Bush showed himself to be game for the question earlier this week when he told The Huffington Post, "Hell yeah, I would!"
