President Donald Trump lags behind the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, former Vice President Joe Biden, in five out of six battleground states, according to a poll from CNBC and Change Research released Wednesday.
Biden is ahead of Trump in Florida, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Arizona, while Trump leads Biden in North Carolina.
- Florida: 50% Biden, 44% Trump.
- Michigan: 48% Biden, 43% Trump.
- Pennsylvania: 48% Biden, 44% Trump.
- Wisconsin: 47% Biden, 43% Trump.
- Arizona: 45% Biden, 44% Trump.
- North Carolina: 47% Biden, 48% Trump.
The poll also found that Biden leads Trump by 6-points nationwide, 50% to 44%. Trump’s approval rating sits at 46%, his approval rating on handling the coronavirus pandemic stands at 44%. Most respondents in battleground states, 69%, and nationally, 71%, said they are seriously concerned about the coronavirus, a slight decrease from two weeks ago, according to Change Research.
Voters in these battleground are divided about how they plan on casting their ballot, a minority plan on voting in-person before Election Day, but most are split between voting by mail and going in-person on Election Day.
- 38% to vote by mail.
- 22% to vote in-person before Election Day.
- 36% to vote in-person on Election Day.
- 4% are unsure about how they will vote.
Change Research polled 2,701 likely voters in seven battleground states and 2,143 likely voters nationwide from August 7-9, 2020. The margin of error is 1.89% for battleground states and 2.12% for the national poll.
