President Donald Trump early Friday seemed to be mocking news of a break-in at Rep. Elijah Cummings’ home, tweeting, “Really bad news! The Baltimore house of Elijah Cummings was robbed. Too bad!”

The Baltimore Sun reported Thursday of the burglary at Cummings’ home in West Baltimore’s Druid Heights neighborhood, saying Baltimore police was investigating the incident. The paper reported it was not known if anything was taken.

The Sun also noted that the burglary, which took place at 3:40 a.m. Saturday, came hours before Trump launched an attack against Cummings and the city of Baltimore.

In several tweets over the weekend, Trump called Cummings a “brutal bully” and said the area of Baltimore he represents “is a disgusting, rat, and rodent infested mess.” On Monday, Trump said Baltimore “has the worst crime statistics in the nation.”

“Those people are living in hell in Baltimore,” Trump told reporters Tuesday.

He called Cummings racist Wednesday and on Thursday called Baltimore "the number one city, proportionately, in the United States on crime. I saw a statistic where it’s worse than Honduras right now.”
