Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull roasted President Donald Trump during what was supposed to be a private speech to journalists, Australia's Channel 9 reported.
A video of the speech was posted on the channel's website.
Turnbull's remarks came during an address to journalists at the annual Mid Winter Ball in Canberra. Journalists who attended the event are supposed to agree not to report on it, The Hill said. However, Channel 9 broke protocol and made it public.
Turnbull called his imitation of the president "affectionately light-hearted," Channel 9 reported.
"The Donald and I, we are winning and winning in the polls," Turnbull is heard saying. "We are winning so much, we are winning like we have never won before. Not the fake polls. There the ones we're not winning in. We're winning in the real polls."
And he added: "I have this Russian guy. … Believe me, it's true, it is true."
The U.S. embassy said it is unconcerned by the prime minister's speech, channel 9 reported.
"We understand that last night's event is equivalent to our own White House correspondents' dinner," an embassy spokesperson said. "We take this with the good humor that was intended."
