Anthony Scaramucci, the former White House communications director, has been dumped from a summer fundraiser by the Republican Party in Palm Beach County, Florida, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel is reporting.
Scaramucci, whose appearance at the Aug. 18 fundraiser had been promoted for months, was dropped after he remarked on Tuesday that President Donald Trump is “turning into” a racist, the newspaper said. Scaramucci’s comments had referred to Trump’s remarks about four Democratic congresswomen.
Michael Barnett, chairman of the Palm Beach County GOP said he personally emailed Scaramucci Thursday morning and told him not to come. Scaramucci replied the event would be taken off his schedule.
“It was a very hard decision to make. I like Anthony Scaramucci a lot,” Barnett said. “But we just believe that his comments weren’t acceptable.”
