Weekly Standard editor Bill Kristol congratulated new chief of staff John Kelly for the firing of communications director Anthony Scaramucci on Monday, calling it a "good start" to his appointment.
GOP strategist Mercedes Schlapp told Fox News that while working for President George Bush, her chief of staff, Andrew Card, reminded colleagues that working for the president is "all about humility."
"It is about serving the American people and this president," Schlapp said.
She said if a communications director or chief of staff finds themselves to be "too important," then there is "no room for you in the White House."
On Twitter, the jibes and sarcasm aimed at the fired West Wing staffer — who was not supposed to officially start his job until Aug. 15 — were unrelenting.
Former President Obama's communications director, Dan Pfeiffer, trolled Scaramucci by chiding he had not put in enough work time to get an invite to "the annual White House Communications Directors Reunion."
CNN commentator and GOP political commentator Ana Navarro, a frequent critic of Trump, noted the recent firings that have rocked the White House.
And the New York Times posted a reader's musings that the firing was stranger than fiction.
News One's Rolands Martin tweeted Scaramucci "just learned" the president "has no loyalty":
While MSNBC's Ari Melber tweeted Scaramucci "did call it last week, to be fair":
