A House Republican said Thursday the debate over her party's healthcare bill is akin to a parent making it through bath time with their children.
According to The Hill, Rep. Ann Wagner of Missouri spoke after the Independent Women's Forum honored her at the Capitol Hill Club in Washington, D.C., the same day House Speaker Paul Ryan has scheduled a vote on the American Health Care Act.
"This has been one of those days," Wagner said to the mostly female group in attendance. "How many of you have children, or have raised them?
"I'm a mom, I have three. There's something that happens to them around four o'clock, you know, when you don't think we're going to make it, [that] we're going to all live through bathtime.
"And you know what? We are. And we're getting there."
Wagner, 54, began serving in the House in 2013. Prior to that, she was the U.S. ambassador to Luxembourg from 2005-2009.
Wagner has been outspoken about the nation's healthcare debate for several years. In 2014, she said former President Barack Obama needed to explain to people why 11 million Obamacare customers experienced a hike in their monthly health insurance premiums at the time.
More recently, she told Bloomberg this week that she believed the American Heath Care Act will make it through the legislative process.
