Fox News legal analyst Andrew Napolitano said Monday that special counsel Robert Mueller has no obligation to reveal his findings until his investigation has concluded.
The former judge's comments came only days after White House chief of staff John Kelly dismissed Mueller's probe as "something that has gone on this long without any real meat on the bone, it suggests to me that there is nothing there, relative to our president," in an interview with NPR.
Napolitano defended Mueller's investigation, saying the idea it has gone on too long is likely the result of former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani joining the president's legal team.
"They're on offense, not defense," Napolitano told Fox News' "America’s Newsroom." "They will be challenging Bob Mueller at every turn. For those of us who watch these things from a professional point of view, I must tell you Bob Mueller has no duty to tip his hand and show his cards until the end of his investigation. And he does have a duty to complete the investigation."
Napolitano said, "I understand their impatience, but it will come to an end one of these days," and added he does not think Mueller "had any idea what he was gonna stumble on."
Some Twitter users were quick to question Napolitano's reasons for defending the investigation, including the son of former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn.
