A newly elected member of Congress hit back at Donald Trump Jr. in a bold way Friday after the former insinuated that she eats dogs.

Rep.-elect Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., tweeted this, one day after Trump Jr. shared a meme on Instagram:

"I have noticed that Junior here has a habit of posting nonsense about me whenever the Mueller investigation heats up.

"Please, keep it coming Jr — it's definitely a 'very, very large brain' idea to troll a member of a body that will have subpoena power in a month.

"Have fun!"

Ocasio-Cortez, a self-described socialist, won election to the House in November. She will take office next month.

On Thursday, Trump Jr. posted a meme on his Instagram account that had an image of Ocasio-Cortez and Trump. The photo included this text:

"Why are you so afraid of a socialist economy?"

"Because Americans want to walk their dogs, not eat them."

He added in the caption: "It's funny cuz it's true!!!"

It's been reported that Trump Jr. expects to be indicted by special counsel Robert Mueller's team as part of the Russia investigation, which began in May 2017 over allegations that the Trump campaign colluded with Russia. One focus of the probe is a 2016 meeting between Trump Jr. and others in the campaign and several Russians.
