Diversity Program Divides School on Race

It appears that toney, upper-crust secular education has lost the only professed believer in original sin — for white people that is.

Anshu Wahi has left Manhattan’s Bank Street School for Children. And instead of being a bitter-ender like Barack Obama, determined to do as much damage as possible before he leaves, Wahi departed peacefully.

You may recall I wrote recently about Wahi’s singular views on education as applied to white children. And if you don’t recall, you can click here.

In Wahi’s twisted view the white kids whose parents paid thousands for them to attend Bank Street were pocket racists, born into bigotry and wielding “white privilege” like a morning star as they strode down the hallways of the school.

Washing those brains was going to take some doing and that’s where Wahi met her match.

The New York Post related juicy bits from a parent-political commissar meeting where Wahi admitted, “’We are definitely getting pushback” from white parents, as well as some black parents, regarding her “Racial Justice and Advocacy” curriculum. But she argued it’s a “brave step” that teachers, parents and students must all take to be more “progressive” in their thinking about race.’”

Something tells me in Wahi’s mind being more “progressive” involved miscreants sitting in the middle of a circle, surrounded by a tribunal, where the victim continued to confess until the listeners were satiated.

As one parent described the curriculum, “One hundred percent of the curriculum is what whites have done to other races. They offer nothing that would balance the story.” Another mother complained, “We joined [the school] because of the diversity and now hate it because of the extreme reverse racism.” In the last straw category, some kids came home in tears wailing, “I’m a bad person.”

The real slap in the face to Wahi and her supporters came when bourgeoisie market forces  — Kapitalism at its worst! — drove her away.

According to one parent approximately 30 families threatened to take their kids to another school where their minds would suffer only a light rinse, instead of Wahi’s power washing.

Naturally the school’s media relations staff claims that nothing of the sort happened and student turnover is only “typical attrition.” Which makes one wonder why after the Post ran the initial story the school’s administration sent email messages to parents who weren’t irate, asking for testimonials about how wonderful Bank Street is.
