We are in a horrendous American awakening. Yet there is some light amidst the darkness.

On a modest budget of $15 million, "Sound of Freedom" has made over $131 million. "Passion of the Christ" actor Jim Caviezel plays a former United States national security agent who leaves his government job to establish a nonprofit organization dedicated to dismantling pedophilia networks. "Sound of Freedom" has steamrolled over some of America's most expensive summer blockbusters.

There is no philosophical discussion or nuance. Harming children through sexual abuse and drugs is evil. The only solution for very harsh crimes is very harsh laws. Now.

Within American constraints of due process of law and our Constitution, punishment must be severe.

The sex industry opens markets from children to younger-looking older people in their '20s and '30s as the teen category. Pornography is the new multibillion dollar American reality. Many children's first sexual exposure is porn.

A spiraling amount of online predation is leading to real life encounters. There are an estimated 500,000 online predators active each day. Children between the ages of 12 and 15 are especially susceptible to being groomed or manipulated by adults they meet online.

The Internet Watch Foundation (IWF) further reported that 2021 was the worst year for sexual abuse online. Research confirmed that 252,000 websites contain images or videos of children being sexually abused. Within a year, one in 25 children get manipulated into physical contact. Eighty percent of child sex crime starts on social media.

Thirty percent of girls said they seriously considered suicide, a nearly 60% increase from a decade ago. Almost 20% of girls reported experiencing rape or other sexual violence in the previous year, also a significant increase from previous years.

As for pedophilia, there are over 42 million adult sexual abuse survivors in America. Girls are two to three times more likely than boys to be molested.

Children in the foster care and welfare systems fare even worse.

America heralds some of the greatest prosperity in history. We are a 70% faith-observant nation. Yet we also suffer from the world's most hedonistic sexual consumption problem.

Our Judeo-Christian values portray Jesus as a pacifist, but he was prone under certain circumstances to righteous anger. Even Jesus through his actions showed that there are times when appropriate disgust or moral outrage is both needed and just.

Christ even made a whip, whipping and driving out the exploiters more violently. Jesus also made no later apologies for his just and harsh rebuking of all those who were attempting to make it harder for the more vulnerable to come to know God.

Jesus invoked the greatest of penalties, calling for death for those who harmed innocent children.

Jesus himself clearly said: "If anyone causes one of these little ones — those who believe in me — to stumble, it would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea.  Woe to the world because of the things that cause people to stumble!" — Matthew 18:6

There is no question or gray area here. Pedophilia, sexual abuse and sex trafficking are the exact evils that Christ was railing against.

As Americans who worship a divine God, we must rip these scourges out of America. We must protect our children through new laws driven by Americans' appropriate, Christ-like, millstone-esque rage.

We Americans hold a proud heritage of law and moral leadership in the world. We hold a greater obligation to all people to be especially swift in our justice in matters so morally black and white. It is never too late or too hard for us to change course on a matter so tantamount to the preservation of our American civilization.

We must say no to sexual and drug trafficking of children and draw our own hard red line now.

If any pervert, sociopath, drug-dealing criminal or pedophile is involved in trafficking or fentanyl, they should be swiftly and permanently removed from our society. The woke district attorneys and political panderers must not be allowed to become modernist moral relativists or self-serving accommodationists on the backs and souls of our most vulnerable citizens.

There is no middle ground on this. The nearly 20% recidivism rates are far too high a risk to our children.

Sadly, evil exists. The relatively gentler 1970s, 1980s and 1990s are gone. The naiveté of our parents and lawmakers must also go. This may be our new America, but it remains one where light has always defeated darkness. We can do so again. It's our moral obligation to do so immediately.

In God, in Christ, in America and our Children ...
