I recently got to sit down with Bob Cornuke and I can tell you he is the closest thing to a modern-day Indiana Jones that I have ever met. Bob, a former law enforcement officer turned intrepid explorer and author, has been tirelessly probing the annals of history.

Similar to the famed movie character, Cornuke too, has embarked on quests for iconic biblical relics, including the Lost Ark. Yet, his mission extends further: He seeks to affirm the historical authenticity of biblical accounts.

Cornuke, the president of the Bible Archaeology, Search & Exploration (BASE) Institute, is committed to reinforcing the Bible's veracity as a historical document and a beacon of hope for mankind. He insists, "The Bible is the gold standard of truth," cautioning audiences against blindly believing grandiose claims. Instead, he urges them to verify everything against the Bible.

Cornuke's advice for those aspiring to embark on a similar path is pragmatic: "Have a thicker skin." He admits being initially unprepared for the waves of dissent and personal criticism he faced. Now, he realizes these challenges are an integral part of his unique vocation and encourages future explorers to brace for scrutiny and let the Bible guide their pursuit of truth.

Despite his adventurous journey being riddled with trials — including five arrests in the Middle East — Cornuke considers each of his 77 expeditions a revelation. He points to the presumed anchors from apostle Paul's shipwreck off Malta's coast as a remarkable find, suggesting it could be the first physical object directly traceable to a biblical narrative.

Beyond archaeology, Cornuke intertwines his work with humanitarian efforts. He and the BASE Institute believe in supporting the communities where they work, extending from providing aid in Israel to bringing busloads of tourists to the country.

Cornuke's work has earned recognition at the highest echelons of power. Invited by President George W. Bush, he had the honor of presenting a Bible study at the White House. Although the president was absent, FBI, CIA, and White House staff members attentively received Cornuke's insights.

Of all his accomplishments, the discovery of Mount Sinai has captured the most attention. His research substantiates the biblical assertion that Mount Sinai is in Arabia, not the Sinai Peninsula. Nevertheless, his favorite discovery remains the anchors from Paul's shipwreck, about which he affirms, "You have to force-feed your mind past reason and logic to ignore them as Paul's shipwreck anchors."

The story of Cornuke's life work serves as an enthralling narrative of faith, history, and exploration. His real-life adventures provide a narrative as captivating as Indiana Jones and significantly more consequential. His journey underscores that the past holds truths waiting to be unearthed, and that unwavering faith coupled with courage can unlock these secrets.

Cornuke ventures fearlessly into unknown terrains in search of historical validation of biblical narratives. His enduring message for those desiring similar adventures is clear: Stand firm, prepare for challenges, and let the Bible be your guide.

His daring exploits inspire those fascinated by the intersection of faith, history, and exploration, solidifying his legacy as an exceptional adventurer in biblical archaeology.
