The White House made it clear on Tuesday afternoon that — for now, at least — it has absolutely nothing to say on the latest reports of Donald Trump Jr's. 2016 meeting with a Russian attorney who hinted she had confidential information about Hillary Clinton.
At the regular briefing for White House reporters Tuesday afternoon, deputy press secretary Sarah Sanders replied to seven questions about the meeting between the younger Trump and the Russian with, "I suggest you talk to Don Jr.'s lawyer."
Newsmax quoted remarks from Sen. Marco Rubio earlier in the day that the ongoing story surrounding the younger Trump falls "in the Mueller territory" — meaning a subject for investigation by special prosecutor Robert Mueller, who is investigating Russian involvement in the 2016 U.S. elections.
When we asked Sanders for a reaction to Rubio's statement, she replied: "Again, I would refer you to the outside special counsel, and I think that's something that they could work on together."
Asked if she had any reaction to Rubio's comment, Sanders simply answered: "No, I don't."
