The White House said Thursday afternoon President Donald Trump will sign a bill to keep the government running – but only one that ensures the military is funded and federal agencies "have the tools" to enforce tough immigration laws.

With roughly 32 hours to go before the deadline for a government shutdown, a White House source insisted to Newsmax any funding legislation must cover the military and the president's proposals for limiting illegal immigration.

"National security and immigration reform are not incompatible," the spokesman told us.

By immigration reform "tools" the president wants in the funding package, the spokesman specifically pointed to funding to secure the wall along the Mexican border, ending chain migration, and eliminating the "visa lottery."

The same spokesman added Democrats were trying to "poison the well" of the president's insistence on an immigration package as part of the Continuing Resolution to keep the government from closing.
