Boehner: More Clarity Needed on Libya Operation

Friday, 25 March 2011 10:10 PM EDT

WASHINGTON (AP) — A spokesman for House Speaker John Boehner says the Obama administration needs to do more to clarify U.S. military objectives in Libya.

The spokesman, Brendan Buck, made the comment Friday after the speaker participated in a conference call with President Barack Obama and congressional leaders.

Buck says Boehner appreciated the call. But he says the administration has more to explain about how the mission in Libya "is consistent with U.S. policy goals."

The call came a day after NATO announced it was assuming control of the no-fly zone over Libya. The White House said Friday that military details were still being worked out on command of attacks on the forces loyal to of Moammar Gadhafi (MOO'-ah-mahr gah-DAH'-fee).

Obama has faced complaints that he has failed to adequately consult with Congress.
