That’s not going to make Republicans happy, given that Genachowski led his commission to adopt the new Net Neutrality rules that increase regulation of the Internet. Locke is reportedly set to replace Jon Huntsman as ambassador to China. Among other candidates being considered for Commerce secretary is U.S. Trade Representative Ron Kirk, sources tell the Hill.

Genachowski is a buddy of President Barack Obama, with their relationship going back to law school. The FCC chairman campaigned for Obama in 2008. His business ties are seen as an asset.
