WASHINGTON (AP) — A Republican-leaning political group will begin airing a major advertisement this week critical of the Obama administration's investment into a now-defunct solar-energy company.
The Crossroads GPS ad will target the administration's loan guarantee to Solyndra, which critics say cost taxpayers a half-billion dollars after the company filed for bankruptcy protection this fall.
The ad will run over the next two weeks on Fox News, CNN and MSNBC and is among the most specific aimed at President Barack Obama's record.
The ad purchase doesn't count more than $180,000 that Crossroads GPS has already spent on broadcast and cable networks in Iowa just weeks before the state's caucuses.
Crossroads is the sister organization of American Crossroads, a "super" political action committee that has pledged to spend millions this election. One of the key figures in Crossroads is former Bush adviser Karl Rove.
