President-elect Donald Trump has indicated that he intends to keep his personal Twitter account and not use the presidential one.
In part of his interview with The Times of London broadcast on NBC News on Sunday and reported by Mediaite, Trump explained that "I've got 46 million people right now…. including Facebook, Twitter and you know, Instagram, so when you think that you're 46 million there, I'd rather just let that build up and just keep it @realDonaldTrump, it's working — and the tweeting, I thought I'd do less of it, but I'm covered so dishonestly by the press — so dishonestly — that I can put out Twitter — and it's not 140, it's now 280 — I can go bingbingbing . . . and they put it on and as soon as I tweet it out — this morning on television, Fox — 'Donald Trump, we have breaking news.'"
Trump touts the usefulness of Twitter, despite a Quinnipiac University national poll released earlier this month which showed that 64 of American voters want him to close his personal Twitter account.
Upon winning the presidential election, Trump promised to be "very restrained" in his Twitter usage, but as the transition period went on there has been little sign of his promise being put into action, the Independent reported.
