Republican front-runner Donald Trump continued his war with presidential primary opponent Ted Cruz by wondering on Twitter how Cruz could be an Evangelical Christian "when he lies so much and is dishonest."

It's not the first time Trump called Cruz a liar. It's the fifth time in 24 hours that Trump used Twitter to question Cruz's truthfulness, Politico reports.

But challenging Cruz's faith as well turns up the volume.

Trump's retort came a day after Cruz launched an ad accusing Trump of a "pattern of sleaze" and told a South Carolina audience of Evangelicals that his opponent supports gay marriage, just like President Barack Obama.

Trump accused Cruz of lying about that, too.
