A new poll shows Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump are separated by just one point in Missouri, a state with a history of voting red.
The Monmouth University survey found that 44 percent of likely voters support Trump and 43 percent are on Clinton's side. Eight percent said they would vote for Libertarian Gary Johnson.
Since 1980, Missouri has voted for the Republican presidential candidate in every election except two, 1992 and 1996. Prior to that, only one election was panted blue in the Show Me State between 1968 and 1980.
The latest figures prove Clinton could buck the longstanding trend and win Missouri's 10 electoral votes in November.
Other key findings from the poll:
Unfavorable opinion:
- Trump: 53 percent
- Clinton: 56 percent
When asked who would handle race relations better:
- Clinton: 53 percent
- Trump: 34 percent
The latest NBC News/Survey Monkey poll, meanwhile, shows Clinton with a 50 percent to 42 percent lead over Trump.
