Donald Trump's microphone was temporarily silenced during a campaign rally Monday, which he jokingly linked to the sound problems he faced during last week's presidential debate.
Trump was speaking to a crowd in Pueblo, Colorado when it seemed like a protester was trying to interrupt him. His supporters in attendance began chanting, and then his mic went out for a few seconds.
"That's all right. Sounds like a nice person," Trump said. "Oh, oh, I thought that was the Commission on Presidential Debates. I didn't know they were here. You know, when they were playing with the mic, I thought that was the Commission."
Trump was referring to the Commission on Presidential Debate's admission that there were "issues" with Trump's audio during last Monday's debate. Trump noticed problems during the event and made a point of saying so afterward, for which he was ridiculed — including by Hillary Clinton, his Democratic opponent.
The second of three debates between the pair is this weekend.
"Let's see what happens on Sunday again," Trump said in Colorado. "My biggest opponent was the microphone."
