Trump Phoned Fox CEO About 'Unfair' Coverage

By    |   Sunday, 13 October 2019 10:41 PM EDT

President Donald Trump late this summer phoned Fox News chief executive Suzanne Scott to complain about what he perceives as unfair coverage of his presidency, reports The New York Times.

Scott in response urged Trump to sit down with Fox’s chief political anchor, Bret Baier, for an interview.

The report comes as Trump continues to criticize the conservative leaning cable news outlet.

“We have to start looking for a new News Outlet,” he tweeted in August. “Fox isn’t working for us anymore!”

Several opinion hosts at Fox News consistently back the president, including Jeanine Pirro, Sean Hannity, Laura Ingraham, but some on the reporting staff have taken a different approach, causing unease at Fox’s headquarters.

Brian Kilmeade, the “Fox & Friends” co-host, recently questioned Trump’s “disaster” decision to remove troops from Syria.

Veteran chief news anchor Shepard Smith has openly disagreed with the president – this summer he called Trump’s attacks on minority female lawmakers as “misleading and xenophobic.”

Smith resigned abruptly on Friday.
