Donald Trump's charitable foundation has reportedly promised it won't pay any of a $25 million settlement to resolve a series of fraud lawsuits against his defunct seminar program, Trump University.
Trump Organization lawyer Alan Garten made the promise in a letter to New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman, the Washington Post reported.
According to the Post, Schneiderman's spokeswoman Amy Spitalnick said her office demanded the promise "given Mr. Trump's reported history of using his charity's money to fund his and his businesses’ legal settlements."
The Post reported in September that Trump used $258,000 from the Trump Foundation, his personal charity, to help settle two lawsuits involving his businesses.
The New York Attorney General's Office is investigating the Trump Foundation's practices.
