Donald Trump's presidential run is so void of ideas it should be called "the Seinfeld candidacy" — because it's about "nothing," Ted Cruz's top spokesman says.
Appearing on
CNN, Cruz's national campaign spokesman Rick Tyler told Erin Burnett:
"The whole campaign is about nothing … nothing about immigration, nothing about job creation, nothing about what's going on in North Korea, nothing about ISIS. I mean this is amazing."
Tyler was referring to Jerry Seinfeld's classic sitcom "Seinfeld," which prided itself on being a show about "nothing."
Tyler also said that Trump can't discuss issues facing the nation in detail because he's not a true conservative like Cruz is.
"Donald Trump's own worst enemy is himself," Tyler said.
Trump — who usually answers criticisms of his run on Twitter — has yet to respond.
According to a RealClearPolitics average of current presidential polls Trump, the Republican presidential front-runner, leads with 40 percent, followed by Cruz with 19 percent and Marco Rubio with 13.7 percent.
