Sean Carrigan and Annabelle Robertson will face off in a runoff later this month for the Democratic nomination in South Carolina's 2nd Congressional District.
Carrigan, an Army veteran from Chapin, and Robertson, a civil rights attorney from West Columbia, were within several hundred votes of each other in unofficial results of Tuesday's primary.
Phil Black finished third. He is a stanch conservative who perennially runs in the Democratic primary, even winning the nomination in 2014.
The winner of the June 26 runoff will face U.S. Rep. Joe Wilson, The Republican is seeking a ninth full term in the western South Carolina 2nd District, which includes Aiken, Barnwell and Lexington counties as well as parts of Orangeburg and Richland counties.
American candidate Sonny Narang of West Columbia will also be on November's ballot.
