Don't worry about a President Donald Trump acting an authoritarian manner like President Barack Obama has done, says conservative talk radio host
Rush Limbaugh: Neither party will allow that to happen.
"The reason Obama has been able to get away with his authoritarianism is that the Republicans have basically checked out of the game, and they have said they're not gonna do one thing to stop Obama," Limbaugh told a caller to his show on Tuesday.
Impeachment has been taken off the table by Republicans and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has said the GOP will not oppose Obama on anything this year for fear of hurting Republican chances in the presidential election, Limbaugh noted.
But, "If Trump gets elected you're gonna see more unity between the Republicans and Democrats in stopping any Trump authoritarianism than you have ever seen in your life because they're gonna hate it, they're gonna despise the guy. And they're gonna align together to try and stop the guy if he tries executive orders," Limbaugh said.
"Trump is not gonna be able to get away with Obamaism because Obama has a compliant Republican Party," he said.
Democrats will not hesitate to go against Trump, he said.
"They'll be talking impeachment on Day Two – after the first Trump executive order," he said.
Republicans, for that matter, will not be worried about going after him either if he tries any "authoritian stuff the Democrats like," he added because they don't have to be worried about appearing to be attacking a minority president.
"He's not African-American. He's not a minority. They won't be worried about any of that," he said.
