Conservative media mogul Rupert Murdoch did a victory lap Wednesday about Donald Trump "reaching out to make peace" with the Republican establishment in his Super Tuesday speech and called on the party to unify if the developer became the nominee.

Murdoch, the executive chairman of News Corporation, said on Twitter:

Trump won seven states on Tuesday, trouncing his four rivals. He now has 319 delegates.

Speaking at his Mar-a-Lago resort in South Florida, Trump extended an olive branch to party insiders by saying that he could get along with House Speaker Paul Ryan.

Ryan slammed Trump on Tuesday for his not immediately disavowing former Ku Klux Klan leader David Duke in an interview on Sunday.

"I'm going to get along great with Congress," Trump said. "Paul Ryan, I don't know him well, but I'm sure I'll get along great with him.

"If I don't, he'll have to pay a big price. OK?" he said.

Last month during the fracas with Pope Francis, Murdoch took to Twitter to predict that Trump would strike a more conciliatory tone if he were ahead by mid-March:
