Rudy Giuliani slammed the FBI for closing its investigation of Hillary Clinton's private email server too quickly, calling it "outrageous" that new emails deemed pertinent to the probe have now emerged.
In an interview to air Sunday with radio host John Catsimatidis on "The Cats Roundtable," the former New York City mayor and federal prosecutor said the email probe should have been done right the first time.
"It’s really outrageous that this happens at this point," he said, according to excerpts posted ahead of the airing by The Hill.
"The investigation should have done completely back when it was done. The FBI shouldn’t have cut it off prematurely, which they clearly did."
The criticism follows FBI Director James Comey's letter to Congress on Friday announcing the agency had discovered emails "pertinent" to the probe and was reviewing them.
"I think Hillary Clinton’s activities over 30 years kind of indicates that there’s something rotten here," he said.
"This is a person who couldn’t be hired to be an assistant U.S. attorney. Maybe this adds a little something to it, but it’s pretty clear that the whole Clinton operation was really beyond the law and they’ve been getting away with it forever, and maybe, finally, it’s caught up with them."
