Hillary Clinton is leading Donald Trump by 20 percentage points in deep-blue California, a new poll showed Thursday.

The results in the Field Poll and University of California Berkeley's Institute of Governmental Studies online survey showed:

  • Clinton: 53 percent.
  • Trump: 33 percent.

Clinton underperforms in favorability — viewed unfavorably by 51 percent of California voters — compared with President Barack Obama in California in the last two elections, the poll showed.

Obama had an unfavorable rating of 35 percent in 2012, and 28 percent in 2008 and beat both Mitt Romney and John McCain in those years by more than 23 points, the pollster reported.

Trump's unfavorable rating in the new poll is 65 percent, the poll showed.
