Fox News host Megyn Kelly and National Urban League President and CEO Marc Morial sparred Thursday over whether recent grand jury decisions point to racism in policing.
On Fox News Channel's
"The Kelly File," Kelly challenged Morial's assertion that the Ferguson, Missouri, and Staten Island, New York, cases were tied to racism. In both instances a white police officer was cleared by a grand jury in the death of an unarmed black suspect.
Kelly cited instances of black officers killing white men and no charges were brought and white officers being charged in the death of black men.
"What is your evidence that the result in these two particular cases had anything to do with the fact that the dead men were black?" she asked Morial.
"You seem to be really hung up on this question," Morial replied.
"I'm not hung up on it. You're hung up on it," Kelly said.
After much debating, Morial finally told Kelly, "What would it take for you to acknowledge that race is an issue? Maybe you don’t want to."
"Proof!" Kelly shouted back.
