Democrat Hillary Clinton's acceptance speech Thursday night was "radically different" than Republican Donald Trump's one week earlier, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich said.
"It would be interesting for somebody to put the Trump acceptance speech and Hillary acceptance speech and put them side by side," Gingrich, an adviser to Trump's campaign, told Fox News Channel's Sean Hannity.
"He is saying we're in trouble, and here are the things I'm going to do. And she's saying we're doing pretty good, and here are a handful of things we're going to do," Gingrich said.
The "radically different speeches" appeal to different people, he said.
"If you're the teacher's union or a left wing college professor you need Hillary Clinton because you need her to keep sending you government money," Gingrich said.
On the other hand, he said, is the rest of the country, 73 percent of which think America is on the wrong track, "Which is astoundingly high number."
