Robo calls from 2012 GOP nominee Mitt Romney on behalf of Marco Rubio in Florida and John Kasich in Ohio probably ended up hurting them rather than helping, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich says.
"It sends exactly the wrong signal," Gingrich said Monday on Fox News Channel's
"Hannity." "You don't want to be the nominee of the old order, the nominee of the team that lost, and that's exactly what that is signaling."
The problem isn't Romney personally, Gingrich said, but that he represents the old order that has been repudiated in this election.
Almost 80 percent of the delegates awarded Tuesday will go to Donald Trump or Ted Cruz, he predicted, and one of them will be the nominee.
"I don't think there's any path for anybody else after tomorrow," Gingrich said.
