"Much too much" has been made over the FBI's report that Hillary Clinton didn't know the "C" markings on her emails meant they were confidential, and Americans shouldn't be too concerned, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said Monday.
"I think that the secretary of state deals with a large number of issues," the California Democrat told the "CBS This Morning" program. Out of 30,000 emails, "we're talking about few that may have been marked 'confidential.' 'Classified' and 'secret' and 'highly sensitive' is where it becomes more problematic."
At any rate, the items the Democratic presidential nominee dealt with had "no threat to our security," Pelosi said. "I think that too much has been made of this."
The ongoing controversy is proving to be a "distraction" from Congressional business that must be completed immediately, Pelosi told CBS.
A short-term spending bill is needed to prevent the government from shutting down on Oct. 1, said Pelosi. Further, she said, funding must be allocated to fight against the Zika virus.
President Barack Obama asked for the money in February, said Pelosi, but "not one cent has been appropriated by Congress."
Pelosi said one of the holdups is the argument about funding for contraceptive measures to be included in the legislation to fight the Zika virus. The disease has been linked to Microcephaly, a birth defect in which a baby's head is smaller than expected when compared to babies of the same sex and age.
