Mike Huckabee took to Twitter to compare the presidential candidates, ultimately complimenting Donald Trump, although calling the real-estate mogul a "car wreck."

The former Arkansas governor had taken his own run at the Republican nomination, but ended up exiting the race and throwing his support to Trump.

Sarah Huckabee Sanders, his daughter, is an adviser and surrogate for Trump's campaign, according to CNN.

A Trump surrogate himself, Huckabee has been a critic of Republicans who do not support the GOP nominee.

Esquire criticized Huckabee's use of metaphors and analogies during interviews. Writer Luke O'Neil said, "Metaphors are useful for a politician, but they're more reliably wielded by the poet or the comedian. Unfortunately for him, Mike Huckabee fancies himself a bit of all three."

The report referenced Huckabee appearing with Fox News' Megyn Kelly and comparing Trump to Captain Quint, a character in the movie "Jaws."

"He's the guy who's going to save your butt and save your family," Huckabee said. "And so at the end of the day, when he kills the shark, you're happy about it."

After Kelly pointed out that the shark in that movie actually killed Quint, Huckabee told her, "Look, any analogy can fall apart."
