Mexico is offering to help flood-ravaged Texas, The Dallas Morning News is reporting.
Foreign Minister Luis Videgaray and Texas Gov. Greg Abbott spoke by telephone Sunday evening, the newspaper reported.
And Carlos Gonzalez Gutierrez, the Mexican consul general in Austin, said he has been in regular communication with the governor's office to see how Mexico can help, according to the newspaper.
"As we have done in the past, Mexico stands with Texas in this difficult moment," Gonzalez said.
The Dallas newspaper noted Mexico had sent troops and food, medicine, and water to help victims of Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
The offer to help those impacted by what was Hurricane Harvey comes as Trump has blasted Mexico as one of the "highest crime nations in the world." In a Sunday tweet, the president also demanded once again Mexico pay for the proposed wall along the U.S. border:
Mexico's foreign ministry said it would not pay for a wall "under any circumstances," CNN reported.
