The editors of the Capital Gazette in Annapolis, Marylnd, left the newspaper's opinion page blank in the wake of Thursday's shootings.
"Today, we are speechless. This page is left intentionally blank today to commemorate victims of Thursday's shootings at our office," the editors wrote. "Tomorrow this Capital page will return to its steady purpose of offering readers informed opinion about the world around them, that they might be better citizens."
Those killed included assistant managing editor Rob Hiaasen, editorial page editor Gerald Fischman, features reporter Wendi Winters, reporter John McNamara, and sales assistant Rebecca Smith, CBS News reported.
The Capital Gazette is an institution in the city, with its sister publication the Maryland Gazette having been founded in 1727, according to CBS News.
The paper's staff members said they were determined to release a paper Friday, CBS News reported.
"Yes, we're putting out a damn paper tomorrow," the Capital Gazette's Twitter account said Thursday night.
The suspect in the shooting has been charged with five counts of first-degree murder.
