Caution must be taken about using the term "lone wolf" when it comes to a deadly terrorist attack at an Ariana Grande concert, as the bombing was "clearly inspired" by the Islamic State, which has claimed responsibility for the incident, Sen. Marco Rubio said Tuesday.
"This is the kind of attack they have been calling for, and you are going to see more of these attempts as they lose territory," the Florida Republican told CNN's "New Day" program.
"Their ability to coordinate an attack, send somebody over there with a specific plan continues to erode."
However, ISIS continues to be able to inspire potential attackers online, Rubio said.
"They're telling people to find soft targets, kill as many people as you can, and be willing to die in the operation," continued Rubio. "It's important to go after ISIS' ability to inspire attacks through the internet, but that is just part of what has to be done.
"There has to be a rejection of this ideology," said the senator.
