Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach, who
represented 10 employees at U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement who sued the Obama administration in 2012 to block a new program to let young illegal immigrants avoid deportation and get a work permit, is endorsing Donald Trump for president.
Kobach declared that Trump "stands head and shoulders" above other candidates on the immigration crisis,
the Topeka Capital-Journal reports.
"Now, more than ever, America needs Mr. Trump's aggressive approach to the problem of illegal immigration," Kobach said in a statement, the paper reports. "Our porous borders constitute a huge national security threat, and our refugee system has been abused by terrorists in the past and is likely to be abused by ISIS terrorists today.
"Moreover, there are too many Americans who are out of work because of illegal immigration or who are working in jobs in which the wages are depressed because of illegal immigration."
Kobach has fought many battles on the issue in recent years.
"I have introduced a number of election reforms that have made Kansas the toughest state in America to commit voter fraud," Kobach, a champion of voter ID laws,
told J.D. Hayworth on "America's Forum" on Newsmax TV in 2014.
In addition, the Kansas Republican says he "teamed up with the state of Arizona and we sued the Obama administration for trying to knot a loophole into our proof of citizenship law, and we beat them in federal district court in March."
"The folks on the left don't like me very much," he added.
