GOP presidential candidate John Kasich said Tuesday he disagrees with rival Donald Trump's contention that the United States should invest less into the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.
He said he thinks we should be downplaying our involvement in NATO, and I think we need to be stronger in the alliance," the Ohio governor said Tuesday, during an interview on
Fox News' "America's Newsroom" about the attacks in Brussels.
But he does agree with Trump in part about the country's visa program, which allows people with passports from U.S.-friendly countries to travel to the United States without needing the permission documents.
Trump has called for ending the program, while Kasich said it needs to be examined, and he hopes Congress will immediately take a look at it.
"In terms of the actions by Congress to say that we didn't want people from Syria in Iraq heading into the United States, I think is correct," Kasich said. "Congress came together to put a limit on that, and I think that's right. And I'm glad the governors are standing united against the idea that we would allow more Syrian refugees in here when we don't have the ability to vet them."

CNN's "The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer" that it would be okay to keep NATO, put pay a lot less of it.
The United States can't afford to do all of this anymore to the same extent," he said, noting that NATO's creation after World War II "was a different time, it was a different age."
