Ohio Gov. John Kasich tells
Newsmax TV he is the Republican presidential candidate who will have the most success in pulling in crossover votes.
In recent weeks, GOP front-runner Donald Trump has claimed that his message is attracting huge numbers of outsiders to join the Republican Party to support him, but Kasich said he's even better equipped to attract newcomers.
"It's really a matter of someone who can win those crossover votes. I do beat Hillary Clinton by more than anybody, by 11 points — and the reason is, I can get those independent and crossover Democrat votes," Kasich said to J.D. Hayworth on "Newsmax Prime."

"So I'm just going to keep doing my thing, I need to make sure I give people answers to their questions, which I do. I do town halls, I don't stand on a stage and then talk, I take their questions, I answer their questions.
"I'm out there with the folks in a very unique way and I got a lot of Democrats that show up and say, 'I like you. I don't know if I'm going to vote for you, but you seem like a good guy.'"
However, Kasich — in fourth place behind Trump and Sens. Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio — is unlikely to modify his core beliefs to broaden his appeal outside the party.
"Make no mistake about it, I'm a conservative with conservative solutions, but there are a lot of Democrats who feel as though their party has deserted them," Kaisch told Hayworth.
