Donald Trump hasn't changed his plans for a real, physical wall along the U.S.-Mexican border, and he's remained "remarkably consistent in his pledge to end illegal immigration," senior communications adviser Jason Miller said Tuesday.
"We're going to build the wall, we're going to secure our borders, we're going to enforce our immigration laws," Miller told Fox News' "Fox & Friends" program. "We're going to end sanctuary cities. We're going to pass e-Verify and uphold the Constitution. That's going to make a big difference in this country."
Questions about Trump's wall grew more pointed on Monday after former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani said the wall would be both physical and "technological," he continued, and will be able to "detect people five, six miles away" as well as people digging under the wall.
Miller, while insisting Trump's plan still includes a wall, didn't directly answer a question about whether the wall would go along the entire Mexican border.
"I wouldn't say that I'm the best person to be the actual adviser as far as how exactly you build the wall, but there will be a physical wall," Miller replied.
On Tuesday, Trump himself weighed into the controversy, tweeting:
There have also been questions about Trump's plans for deportation, following a town hall last week where he said he'd be willing to work with some undocumented immigrants.
"We already deport a lot of people every year, but what we have to do is do a much better job than what President Obama has been doing," Miller commented. "Mr. Trump has said that we're going to start with criminal illegals. We have to go with the really bad ones and get them out of here first."
Trump will give a major policy speech in Phoenix on his immigration plans Wednesday, and Miller said the address will give a "broader vision" of the nominee's proposals.
