Most GOP senators appear ready to back presidential front-runner Donald Trump if he gets the party's nomination, the Washington Post reports

In a survey that asked Senate Republicans if they'd support Trump at the top of the ticket, the Post said it compiled responses based on replies it received, and from comments in media outlets.

According to the survey, 28 of 54 GOP senators said they'd be behind Trump as nominee, 25 were either unsure or didn't want to say, and one, Nebraska Sen. Ben Sasse, was a definite "no."

In other findings, the survey found that among those saying they'd support Trump as nominee:
  • 22 say said they'd support whoever is nominee, with North Carolina Sen. Thom Tillis remarking, "Any of the candidates we have on their worst day, is better than [Hillary] Clinton on her best."
  • About a half-dozen said they had reservations.
