Geraldo Rivera, who has counted Donald Trump among his closest friends for years, has come out swinging at the Republican presidential nominee after his suggestion that "Second Amendment people" could take care of Hillary Clinton.
In a profane rant on Twitter, the Fox New personality, said:
Trump caused jaws to drop Tuesday when he told supporters in North Carolina that if Clinton is elected, she'd have the power to appoint Supreme Court justices, adding, "If she gets to pick her judges, nothing you can do, folks. Although the Second Amendment people — maybe there is, I don't know."
He was widely condemned for appearing to suggest violence against his Democratic opponent, although his campaign later issued a clarification insisting he wasn't.
The U.S. Secret Service reportedly discussed the comments with Trump campaign officials, though Trump himself denied any such meeting took place.
On Wednesday, Clinton called out Trump's "casual inciting of violence."
