MSNBC: Recent Debates Important to GOP Voters

Recent debates played a big part in the decision of most New Hampshire Republican voters, which could bode badly for Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, who was criticized for appearing robotic in Saturday's debate, MSNBC reports.

And two-thirds of Republicans said they favor banning Muslims from entering the United States, which would appear to favor front-runner Donald Trump who has called for just such a ban.

Among Republicans:

Recent debates:
  • Most important: 10 percent
  • Important: 54 percent
  • Minor factor: 25 percent
  • Not a factor: 8 percent
Voting for first time (12 percent):
  • Donald Trump: 35 percent
  • John Kasich: 18 percent
  • Ted Cruz: 13 percent
  • Marco Rubio: 13 percent
Ban Muslims from entering U.S.:
  • Support 66 percent
  • Oppose: 31 percent
On the Democratic side:

Recent debates:
  • Most important: 8 percent
  • Important: 45 percent
  • Minor factor: 31 percent
  • Not a factor: 14 percent
Voters under 30:
  • Hillary Clinton: 16 percent
  • Bernie Sanders: 83 percent
Voters 65 and over:
  • Hillary Clinton: 58 percent
  • Bernie Sanders: 41 percent
