Republican candidate Donald Trump won't be bothered by fellow billionaire Mark Cuban's appearance at the upcoming debate, according to his campaign spokeswoman on Friday, Politico reports.
Cuban, a supporter of Hillary Clinton and heavy critic of Trump's, announced Thursday that he would attend the first debate at Hofstra University in New York.
"I just think it's worth noting that this is one of those things that could get inside somebody's head. And Mark Cuban, sitting right there in front of him," Fox Business' Maria Bartiromo said to national spokeswoman Katrina Pierson.
"No one can get in Donald Trump's head. No one can get in Mr. Trump's head," Pierson replied.
"He's going to be focused and he's gonna be . . . focused on talking to the American people," Pierson continued. "It doesn't matter who's in the front row. Mr. Trump is gonna make his case at Monday night."
Cuban was invited by the Clinton campaign, according to an unnamed aide who spoke to CNN.
"He has the best seat we have access to," the aide said, referring to Cuban's front row seat. "He has proven to be singularly effective in making the case against Trump and for Clinton, that is why we invited him."
Cuban formally endorsed Clinton at an event last July in his hometown of Pittsburgh.
"Trump scares me," Cuban said to CNN after the event. "Donald, initially, I really hoped he would be something different, that as a businessperson, I thought there was an opportunity there. But then he went off the reservation and went bats--- crazy."
Later on Fox News, Trump's campaign manager Kellyanne Conway downplayed Cuban's presence, saying it would be "a typical Monday night for Hillary Clinton spending it with billionaires who don't particularly care for Donald Trump," according to Politico.
"What's he gonna do," she added, “make funny faces at Donald Trump?"
