A new 60-second ad from Texas Sen. Ted Cruz's campaign ripped Florida Sen. Marco Rubio for using President Barack Obama's talking points to sell the Senate's 2013 immigration reform legislation, the
Washington Examiner reports.
"Rubio got to Washington and wrote the bill giving amnesty to illegals using Obama's talking points to make his sales pitch," a narrator says of the Florida senator who co-authored the Senate's bill which failed under the scrutiny of Republicans in the House.
"Marco Rubio burned us once. He shouldn't get the chance to sell us out again," the narrator added in the spot titled, "Sales Pitch."
The ad shows Obama and Rubio sounding nearly identical on the goals of immigration reform, but Rubio fired back by noting that Cruz has run a "very deceitful campaign" — a feeling that, according to the Washington Examiner, has been echoed by other GOP candidates including Donald Trump and Ben Carson.
According to a new
NBC poll released Friday, the day before the South Carolina primary, Cruz is in second place — just 5 percentage points behind Trump — and Rubio is in third.
