The "Anonymous" computer vandals who have disrupted governments and corporations worldwide have declared cyberwar on Islamic terrorists to avenge the murders at the French satirical newspaper, Charlie Hebdo.
In an online video, a man speaking French and wearing a Guy Fawkes mask, with its iconic upturned mustache and pencil-thin goatee, sits alone before a camera and reads a statement — much as Islamic terrorists have done countless times over the years.
The cyberwarrior vows that Anonymous will disrupt the terrorists’ Internet connections and scramble their emails, undermining a critical means of communications for Muslim extremists such as the Islamic State and al-Qaida.
"In light of the Charlie Hebdo attacks, we have decided to declare war against you terrorists," the Anonymous spokesman says. "We will destroy you, every last one, just as you have allowed the deaths of so many innocent people.
"We will avenge their deaths by monitoring all your online activities and close your social media accounts.
"You will not enforce your Shariah law on our democracy or take away our freedom of speech.
"We will hunt you down, everywhere, all over the world."
The loose network of computer hackers Monday claimed to have already disrupted one site, tweeting "tango down," a military reference to killing a terrorist.
