Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton are in close races in Florida and Ohio, according to a new
CBS News battleground tracker poll.
In a hypothetical matchup between the presumptive GOP and Democratic nominees in Florida, Clinton leads Trump by 1 point, 43 to 42 percent.
In Ohio, Clinton has a 5-point advantage over Trump, 44 to 39 percent.
In a match-up between the billionaire developer and Democratic candidate Bernie Sanders in Florida, the two candidates are tied at 44 percent each. Sanders, however, has a 9-point lead over Trump in Ohio, 48 to 39 percent, according to the poll.
Sanders leads Trump among younger voters and independents.
But in both states, Trump has at least eight-in-ten Republicans backing him. Clinton, meanwhile, has the support of at least eight in ten Democrats in both states.
Twenty-five percent of those who are backing Clinton in Ohio say they support her because they oppose Trump. About 30 percent of those backing Trump in both Ohio and Florida say they are supporting the candidate because they want to stop Clinton.
